Discount Pet Medications => : Interceptor Spectrum :Start => : Interceptor Spectrum : Description
This product is being discontinued by the manufacturer. Customers are advised to switch to their newer product line, Credelio which also kill major types of ticks. To include the heartworm preventions, we also advice Nexgard Spectral for the same plus ticks protections. The combination of ingredients in Interceptor Spectrum Chews (aka Interceptor Plus) prevents heartworm infection; controls adult roundworm, immature roundworm, adult whipworm, adult hookworm, adult tapeworm, and aids in the control of adult hookworm infection. Interceptor Spectrum Chews, with its sister product Sentinel Spectrum recently approved by FDA, is an enhanced version on the traditional Interceptor Flavor Tabs. The new product adds the anthelmintic praziquantel to the existing Interceptor formula, allowing for treatment and control of tapeworms. This increases the cost by an extra $3/dose compared to the old Interceptor Tab. So do expect the product to be more "expensive". Interceptor Spectrum Tasty Chews active ingredients are milbemycin oxime and praziquantel. Milbemycin oxime interferes with nerve transmission in invertebrates, which helps protect against heartworm, roundworm, hookworm and whipworm (minimum dose rate: 0.5mg/kg). Praziquantel causes muscle spasm in tapeworm, which are then attacked by enzymes and disintegrate (minimum dose rate: 5mg/kg). It kills all intestinal forms of tapeworm except Spirometra spp, which require a higher than standard dose rate. Warnings,

Feedback
Being aware that Shetland Sheepdogs can have trouble with the Heartgard brand heartworm preventative, my vet recommended the Interceptor. My little dog LOVES the taste and has had no problems with it at all. I would heartily recommend Interceptor to anyone who is concerned about adverse reactions in their dogs--especially if some one owns a small dog. I have been using interceptor for about 5 yrs and will use nothing else my boys max (shi tuz) and jazz (westie) never had a problem since using the product am sold on the product and have told my friends about the product in Jan. I found a stray chiweenie puppy according to my vet he was 1lb and 1 month old he has some health issues as soon as she gives him the ok he will also be on interceptor just like his brothers my boys love the product and I like the price what more can I ask for. Interceptor is a great heart worm preventative. I have a poodle that is a picky eater, so this little pill is easy to dose if she chooses not to eat it on her own. If you have a small dog, I would recommend this product. Have had no problem with interceptor, chewy & bud take without thinking about it they love it , on the other hand i have two that don't take it well tinkerbell & max max always gets the free treat in the package he loves it . I've been using this product for 6 mos now and I am very happy with it so far. It came highly recommended by my Vet because many other Heart Worm Prevention Medicines have additional harmful pesticides that can be harmful to your dog. This was the safest for my dog and it's just as effective as the others.
